Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents Bhangoner Gaan, a performance by The Tagore Boys at this year’s AMI Arts Festival, exploring the spirit of change, freedom and renewal in the works of Rabindranath Tagore.
Bringing together song, movement, recitation and theatre, the production approaches Tagore’s poetry, music and ideas through the perspective of a younger generation.
The title, Bhangoner Gaan, evokes the act of breaking through barriers and established conventions in order to make space for something new. Through a sequence of music and dramatic interpretation, familiar words and melodies are approached from a contemporary point of view.
At its heart, the performance reflects on Tagore’s belief in creativity, freedom and the development of the individual, while allowing the young performers to bring their own energy and interpretation to his work.
The Tagore Boys bring together young performers in a collaborative exploration of Tagore through music, movement, recitation and theatre.
