Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents Ruuh-Bakhsh, featuring Tajdar Junaid, Satyaki Banerjee and Rabi Mondal, at AMI Arts Festival 2026
The ensemble brings together three distinct musical journeys in an exploration of Bengal’s folk and mystical traditions. Dotara, khamak, rabab, oud and folk percussion meet Bengali mystical poetry and contemporary musical textures, creating a sound rooted in tradition without treating that tradition as fixed.
Satyaki’s grounding in classical and folk music, Rabi’s lived relationship with the Baul tradition and Tajdar’s work across film and contemporary sound allow each musician to approach the repertoire from a different direction.
Having performed at platforms in India and internationally, including the Barbican in London, Ruuh-Bakhsh approaches folk music as a living practice capable of movement, exchange and reinvention.
Tajdar Junaid is a film composer and music producer whose work spans cinema and contemporary music in India and internationally.
Satyaki Banerjee is a musician working across sarod, dotara, oud, rabab and Bengali mystical song, with strong grounding in both classical and folk traditions.
Rabi Mondal is a folk musician from Santiniketan, trained within the Baul tradition and performing on instruments including dotara, khamak, dupki and folk percussion.
