Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents The Tapi Project, a Surat-based musical project bringing together folk influences, funk and contemporary rhythms at AMI Arts Festival 2026.
Built around Yogi’s poetry and carried by Swati’s expressive voice, the music reflects on the contradictions of contemporary life. Questions of identity, belonging, loneliness, changing values and the distance between people find their way into songs rooted in lived experience.
Drawing from folk, jazz, rock and other musical influences, The Tapi Project has developed a sound that resists easy categorisation. Much like the river from which the band takes its name, the music moves freely between forms, allowing poetry and rhythm to shape each other.
Join us for an evening of music that reflects on a changing world while remaining connected to the sounds and stories from which it emerges.
The Tapi Project is a Surat-based musical collective known for its genre-fluid sound and live performances. The band has performed more than 400 concerts across 30 countries, carrying its music to audiences in India and internationally.
Drawing on folk, jazz, rock and other influences, the group creates music shaped by its travels, observations and individual musical backgrounds. Its name comes from the River Tapi, reflecting an approach to music that is fluid, organic and continually evolving.
