Event Details
As part of AMI Arts Festival 2026, Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents My Gaze, an exhibition of photographs by legendary actor, director and writer Aparna Sen.
The exhibition brings together a selection of photographs taken by Sen over the years, offering an intimate glimpse into her personal way of seeing. Rather than following a single theme or a prescribed narrative, the photographs draw attention to the people, objects, places and moments that have caught her eye.
Light, in particular becomes an important element across the photographs, shaping the way ordinary scenes are observed and remembered. Each image reflects a moment of attention, shaped by curiosity, instinct and perspective.
My Gaze offers an opportunity to encounter the familiar through Sen's eyes and to consider how an artist's way of looking can transform everyday moments into evocative visual narratives.
Aparna Sen is an acclaimed actor, filmmaker and writer whose work has made a significant contribution to Indian cinema.
Beginning her career as an actor, she went on to establish herself as one of India's leading filmmakers, known for films that engage closely with human relationships, society and everyday life. With My Gaze, Sen turns her attention to photography, bringing the same sensitivity to observation and detail that has characterised her creative work across cinema and literature.
