As part of AMI Arts Festival 2026, Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents Salted Caramel, a poetry reading and conversation with Suhasini Barman around her limited-edition book of the same name.
Comprising 50 prose poems, Salted Caramel explores the contradictions that shape emotional experience. Sweetness can hold sharpness, intimacy can coexist with distance, and presence can carry the possibility of loss. Moving through love, longing, absence and silence, the poems stay with these tensions rather than seeking to resolve them.
Conceived as both a literary work and a handmade artistic object, the book also considers how its physical form becomes part of the reading experience.
The session brings the poems and the making of the book into conversation through readings and a discussion with the author.
Suhasini Barman is the author of Salted Caramel and Founder and Director of SBCO Digital. Her work includes prose poetry and writing centred on memory, relationships and emotional experience.
