As part of AMI Arts Festival 2026, Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents The Blue God in Varied Manifestations, a dance-theatre production by Nirvana Arts Foundation – The Sudip Chakraborty Dance Company. Moving beyond a conventional chronological retelling of Lord Sri Krishna’s life, the production explores the lives, emotions and destinies of those transformed by his presence.
Through stories of motherhood, devotion, envy, companionship, surrender and wounded pride, Krishna emerges in varied manifestations: as a child fulfilling a mother’s dream, a force that animates the inanimate, a saviour who restores dignity, and a guiding presence leading souls beyond the mortal realm. The production brings the human experiences within Krishna’s mythology to the forefront, offering an intimate perspective on the relationships and emotions that shape these stories.
Rooted in the classical Katha Natya tradition, the performance brings together storytelling, dance, theatre and music. By weaving narrative and movement into a shared theatrical experience, it connects traditional storytelling practices with contemporary expression.
Conceptualised, choreographed and directed by Sudip Chakraborty, the production features live vocals, an ensemble of percussionists and instrumentalists, and an evocative musical arrangement that enriches its narrative.
