KCC presents WE KNOW WE KNEW: Interfacing Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Scientific Paradigms in Conservation – a workshop facilitated by KCC Conservation Lab at the Indian Museum.

The field of conservation science, while relatively nascent, has its antecedents in the resource management practices of indigenous communities, which historically employed nature-based strategies for ecological preservation, a form of traditional conservation. Following the endorsement of conservation as a scholarly discipline, researchers increasingly turned to these time-honoured practices, subjecting them to pragmatic inspection. This rigorous scrutiny has highlighted the efficacy of indigenous conservation methods, thereby enhancing the scientific community's recognition of their tradition-conscious value and integrating them into contemporary conservation paradigms.
