Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents The First Draft, a three-day scriptwriting workshop facilitated by filmmaker Indranil Roychowdhury and poet, lyricist, and writer Srijato. 

Designed for aspiring screenwriters, filmmakers, theatre practitioners, writers, and storytellers, the workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of writing for the screen. Through interactive sessions, writing exercises, script discussions, and guided mentorship, participants will explore idea development, screenplay structure, character creation, dialogue, and cinematic storytelling. 

The workshop offers an engaging introduction to the craft of scriptwriting while encouraging participants to discover and develop their own creative voice. Drawing on the literary and cinematic expertise of the facilitators, The First Draft creates a space for learning, experimentation, and meaningful engagement with the art of storytelling. 

About the Facilitators 
Indranil Roychowdhury is an acclaimed filmmaker, screenwriter, and graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. He has directed the critically acclaimed films Phoring and Mayar Jonjal, along with the web series Chhotolok. Alongside his work in cinema, he has an extensive career in advertising, documentaries, and television. 

Srijato is one of the leading contemporary poets and lyricists in Bengali literature. An Ananda Puraskar recipient, he is widely recognised for his poetry, lyrics, essays, and screenwriting, and has received the Filmfare Awards East for Best Lyricist. His work continues to shape contemporary Bengali literature and popular culture.
