As part of AMI Arts Festival 2025, Kolkata Centre for Creativity, in collaboration with Banglanatak, presents The Essence of Self-Searching: A Presentation By Bauls of Bengal.
This special evening begins with the screening of an award-winning film on the Baul tradition, followed by a live performance featuring leading practitioners — Babu Fakir (Vocals & Dotara), Kartik Khyapa (Vocals & Ektara), Arvind Das (Dhol/Khol), Debalina (Vocals), and Mamata Bharui (Percussion).
Recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, Baul music embodies Bengal’s mystic spiritual tradition, marked by lyrical poetry, soulful instruments, and the philosophy of seeking the self within oneself.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Banglanatak is a non-profit social enterprise that uses culture-based approaches to foster inclusive and sustainable development and poverty alleviation in rural India, particularly in West Bengal. They specialize in empowering traditional artists and communities by revitalizing intangible cultural heritage through their Art For Life (AFL) program, which transforms artists into micro-enterprises.
