Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents Shaam-e-Urdu, an evening that brings together students of the language, lovers of literature, and those drawn to the cultural richness of Urdu.

The programme is conceived as a mehfil of ghazals, nazms, storytelling, and conversation. It focuses on the elegance of expression, the depth of feeling, and the shared experience of language through sound and meaning.

The evening is not only a performance space but also a cultural gathering. It invites participants to listen, reflect, and engage with Urdu as a living tradition shaped by voice, memory, and literary practice.

The session features Zahid Hossain as felicitator. A distinguished thespian and voice artist, he is among the early practitioners of dastangoi in Kolkata. His work across theatre and storytelling continues to bring classical oral traditions into contemporary spaces. He also conducts workshops across India and internationally, with a focus on language and pronunciation.
