Time:  11:00 AM
Venue: KCC Amphitheatre
Entry: Open to ages 10+

KCC presents a special screening of Pather Panchali, the iconic film directed by Satyajit Ray, thoughtfully organised for the visually impaired community with inclusive audio description support by Arya Moitra.

Designed by Dr. Ishan Chakraborty, Assistant Professor at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, this initiative reimagines a cinematic classic through carefully crafted narration that articulates visual details, gestures, landscapes, and silent nuances—enabling a deeper engagement with the film’s emotional world.

Through immersive sound design and descriptive storytelling, participants journey alongside Apu and Durga, experiencing rural Bengal not only through image, but through texture, rhythm, and voice. What unfolds is not merely a screening, but a shared sensory encounter—where cinema expands beyond sight and becomes profoundly inclusive.

This programme reaffirms KCC’s commitment to DEAI initiatives, ensuring that Ray’s timeless masterpiece remains open, meaningful, and moving for every audience.

A significant experience for students, cinephiles, accessibility advocates, and anyone who believes that art must be shared, felt, and made accessible to all.
