Kolkata Centre for Creativity, in collaboration with Chidakash Kalalay – Centre of Art and Divinity, presents a ten-day immersive residency in Marga Natya, a holistic performance system evolved from Bharata’s Natyashastra. Facilitated by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Piyal Bhattacharya, the residency offers a rare opportunity to engage with natya as both artistic practice and a way of life. The programme brings together training, craft, and the ethos of guru–shishya parampara , nurturing artists as cultural contributors to Indian heritage.
The residency culminates in Samvatsar Katha, the performance will trace the cycle of the six Indian seasons across a full year. The work weaves ensemble choreography with Nata‑Nartak, Nata‑Nartaki and Kutapa musicians, live music, poetry, masks, and crafted props, inspired by the themes and aesthetics of Indian kāvya tradition. The performance reflects on how nature’s shifts shape human consciousness, listening to the unspoken rhythms of time, and invites the audience toward ānanda, a state of harmony with cosmic rhythm.
