Saat Maqam Ishq ke by the Sufi band Murshidabadi Project at KCC’s AMI Arts Festival 2024 is a musical-dastaan narrating the seven stages of love in Sufism though mystic poetry and songs of the subcontinent. This unique presentation combines music and Daastan written by Piyush Ashm to explore the spiritual stages of Sufi love – from Dilkashi to Faana.
About the Band:
The Murshidabadi Project has earned a reputation as an authentic Sufi band and a collaborator in various art forms, genres, and soundscapes both within India and Internationally. From curating the rare form of Bengali qawwali for Coke Studio Bangla to composing Kabir dohas for Netflix’s Sher Dil, the band has achieved significant milestones. Committed to the teaching of the mystics, the Murshidabadi Project strives to bring the “sound of the soil” back to its roots, establishing itself as a truly unique and niche entity in the musical landscape. The founder Soumya Murshidabadi is a skilled Sufi musician trained in Indian classical music whose philosophy revolves around connecting with a diverse audience through recitals collaborations, and various projects.
