PRAVAHA – The Journey
Date: 4 July 2026
Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Venue: KCC Amphitheatre
KCC presents PRAVAHA – The Journey, a Kathak performance by acclaimed dancer Sandip Mallik along with his disciples. Conceived as an evening of spiritual and artistic reflection, the presentation brings together devotion, rhythm, and the elemental presence of nature through a carefully curated series of Kathak compositions.
The performance journeys from soulful invocations dedicated to the divine to evocative explorations of water as the sustaining force of life and creation. Through intricate footwork, graceful movement vocabulary, rhythmic interplay, and expressive abhinaya, the production reflects the interconnectedness of humanity, spirituality, and the environment. Rooted in the traditional aesthetics of Kathak while remaining accessible to contemporary audiences, the performance celebrates the enduring vitality of Indian classical dance.
In addition to being a performer, Sandip Mallik is also a dedicated teacher committed to nurturing the next generation of Kathak practitioners and preserving the richness of the form through performance and pedagogy.
As he reflects:
“Kathak is not just a dance; it’s a dialogue between the dancer and the divine.”
