KCC is here with an exciting form of art which allows you to blend your artistic thought with the most basic element of the earth – clay. Making miniature dolls out of raw clay is an old and one of the most popular crafts of West Bengal, especially Krishnanagar.
AMI Arts Festival 2024 is hosting a Krishnanagar doll-making workshop where participants will learn two major things – one, how to make a clay doll from scratch, giving it form and shape and finally drying them for the next part – two, painting and dressing the model, giving it its unique characteristics.
Participants get to take home their own creations.
What we’ll cover:
- Introduction to the traditional art form and basic soil knowledge
- Participants will be receiving one readymade model and will be creating one miniature model themselves
- A briefing on the burning and drying process
- Colouring the final product and designing its characteristics
- Feedback and doubt-clearing session with closing remarks
What you’ll learn:
- Basic soil knowledge for crafting
- Creating a Santa Claus model with a human figure
- Correct procedure for drying and burning clay figures
- Innovative colouring techniques using acrylic, fabric paint, plastic paint, etc.
Trainer Profile:
Satyajit Pal, an independent artist, is currently with the art organization Chhaya School of Art and has conducted several workshops across the country. He has received the Bengal State Award in 2017 and 2023 for his experimental work in the field.
