Recommended age: 15 years and above
Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents Kolkata ki Jalkatha, ft. East India Dastangos and the Children of Kolkata, an evening of storytelling, music, and performance exploring the city’s deep relationship with water, memory, and migration.
Kolkata has always been shaped by its rivers, canals, ghats, and journeys the water current have traced. Through generations, communities arrived carrying with them their beliefs, rituals, stories, and gods, gradually weaving these memories into the cultural fabric of the city. This performance traces those connections through narratives rooted in faith, belonging, displacement, and everyday life.
Bringing together storytelling, music, oral histories, and performance, Kolkata ki Jalkatha reflects on how water became both witness and archive to Kolkata’s evolving identity.
