Kolkata Centre for Creativity in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in India, presents KING, a play that brings to the stage the story of Luther, a man from Cork who balances loneliness with his passion for performing as an Elvis impersonator. Named after Dr Martin Luther King Jr, Luther’s journey touches on themes of bias, privilege, and the determination to live with dignity. Through humour, music, and sharply drawn moments, the play explores the inner battles that shapes an individual’s sense of worth and place in the world.

A part of the AMI Arts Festival 2025, the play is written and performed by Pat Kinevane, with direction by Jim Culleton and music by Denis Clohessy. KING is the fifth collaboration between Kinevane and Fishamble, the team behind acclaimed works such as FORGOTTEN, SILENT, UNDERNEATH, and BEFORE.
