Kaagaz Ke Gubbare
Date: 15th June 2024
Time: 6:30 pm (100 minutes)
Venue: KCC Amphitheatre
‘Kaagaz Ke Gubbare’ is a captivating performance that brings to life the writings and short stories of the legendary Ismat Chughtai. The performance features a selection of six of her short stories: Kunwari, Ek Shauhar Ke Khatir, Chhui Mui, Gharwali, Pesha, and Ghoonghat. These narratives are explored through a blend of dramatized readings, theatrical performance, percussion, and songs.
The performance delves into themes of love, jealousy, betrayal, and the quest for identity. The metaphor of ‘kaagaz’ (paper) symbolizes the fragility of the female condition, while ‘gubaare’ (balloons) represents the potential to rise when ignited by passion.
