Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents Harlesden High Street, a powerful play that travels into the heart of London's immigrant neighbourhoods and multicultural boroughs. Written by renowned playwright Abhishek Majumdar, this production by Whole 9 Yards follows the lives of three South Asian immigrants — Karim, Rehaan, and Ammi — as they try to find stability and meaning in a world of uncertainty.

While selling toilet paper and jackfruit on the streets of Harlesden, their daily battles speak of survival, love, migration, and fractured identities. The narrative navigates through poverty, longing, bureaucratic hurdles, and the quiet resilience that binds communities of colour in hostile urban landscapes.

Directed by Abhrajit Sen and performed by Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, Ananya Sen, and Debopriyo Mukherjee, the play features live music and interactive staging, making it a uniquely sensory and emotionally layered experience. It also explores what happens when public spaces turn political, when love becomes transactional, and when the idea of “home” dissolves into memory.

Harlesden High Street is a searing yet lyrical response to migration, exclusion, and survival — holding up a mirror to how policy, race, and prejudice shape the lives of those who remain unseen.

Come and join us for a stirring evening that challenges perceptions and celebrates resilience in the face of adversity.
