Guru Pranam

Date: 11 July 2026
Time: 6:30 PM
Venue: 1st Floor Amphitheatre

KCC, in collaboration with Sangeet Ashram, presents Guru Pranam – Sarod Sandhya with Basant Kabra, an evening of Hindustani classical music dedicated to the Birth Centenary year of Guru Maa Annapurna Devi and the spirit of Guru Purnima.

The concert brings to the stage Pandit Basant Kabra, one of the foremost sarod exponents of the Maihar-Senia gharana. Trained under Pt. Damodarlal Kabra and later under the legendary Annapurna Devi in the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara, his music reflects the meditative depth, discipline, and subtle emotional expression associated with this revered lineage of Baba Allauddin Khan.

Known for his expansive melodic phrasing, tonal clarity, and contemplative approach to performance, Basant Kabra’s recitals explore everything between introspection and rhythmic intensity while remaining true to the dhrupad-gayaki tradition of the gharana. This special presentation stands as both a musical offering and a tribute to one of the most influential pedagogical traditions in Hindustani classical music.

Accompanying him on tabla is Shri Indranil Mallick, an acclaimed exponent of the Lucknow gharana known for his virtuosity, tonal refinement, and sensitive accompaniment. Together, the artists bring an evening that honours tradition while creating a deeply immersive listening experience.
