Conversation about the Writings of Bibhutibhushan 

<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">A discussion between noted scholars Rusati Sen and Tapabrata Bhaduri, both of whom have extensively studied the writings and intellectual legacy of Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. </span>

The conversation revisits the distinctive qualities of the author’s prose, which combines deep observation of nature with philosophical reflection on everyday life. His writing continues to resonate with readers for its quiet humanism and sensitivity to both landscape and character. 

Through selected texts and critical insights, the speakers will explore how Bibhutibhushan’s work engages with themes of ecology, rural society, and the complexities of human experience. The session invites audiences to consider how his writing remains relevant within contemporary literary and cultural discussions. 

Speakers 

  • Rusati Sen is a former Associate Professor of Economics at Basanti Devi College, Kolkata. Her research engages with the socio-economic contexts of Bengali literature and cultural history. She has authored several books including Bibhutibhushan: Dwandwer Binyas and Satyajiter Bibhutibhushan, and has edited important volumes such as Bibhutibhushan Reader published by Sahitya Akademi. 
  • Tapabrata Bhaduri is an educator and researcher whose work focuses on the writings of Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. His research has been published in the book Birohi Debota Bibhutibhushan, which examines the philosophical and literary dimensions of the author’s work.

A special storytelling event curated by Mirchi Sunday Suspense, inspired by the supernatural tales of Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. The performance will be headed by RJ Agni aka Agnijit Sen, who brings the story to life through a live narration on stage with sound and music. 

About the Artist 
Agnijit Sen, popularly known as ‘Mirchi Agni’, is a noted radio jockey and voice artist associated with Radio Mirchi. A defining voice of contemporary Bengali audio storytelling, he is best known for his work on Sunday Suspense, where his evocative narration has brought countless literary classics and supernatural tales to life. Beyond radio, Agni has also engaged audiences through digital content, including the popular spoof series O Maa Go alongside Mirchi Somak, and has appeared in Bengali cinema with roles in films such as Golondaaj.
