Join Rituparna Roy as she traces the journey of her latest book Coming Out Solo, from idea to publication. Blending memoir, personal essays, and blog writing, Roy reflects on women’s life-writing, particularly by Indian authors, and situates her work alongside her acclaimed short story collection Gariahat Junction. 

The conversation explores storytelling, identity, and the craft of life-writing, offering insight into contemporary women’s narratives and literary traditions. The session will be facilitated by author and journalist Amrita Mukherjee, bringing together two distinct voices in literary and cultural discourse.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS 

Rituparna Roy 
Rituparna Roy is a writer and researcher, and the initiator of the Kolkata Partition Museum Project, which aims to establish a Partition museum focused on the Bengal experience. An alumna of Presidency College and Calcutta University, she has taught in India and abroad and conducted postdoctoral research at the International Institute of Asian Studies, Leiden. She is the author and editor of several scholarly works on Partition, memory, and Indian English literature. Her short story collection Gariahat Junction was published in 2020, and her memoir Coming Out Solo marks her first major work of non-fiction. 

Amrita Mukherjee 
Amrita Mukherjee is an author and independent journalist whose books include The Secret Diary of A Criminal Lawyer, Exit Interview, and Museum of Memories. She has worked with leading publications such as The Times of India, The Hindustan Times, and The Asian Age, and is co-founder of the Kolkata Crime Writers’ Festival.
