Once a primary school teacher, Ghosh dared to dream beyond conventions, designing breathtaking floral sets for grand celebrations, including the iconic Ambani weddings. Her story is one of courage, perseverance, and artistry, proving that women can redefine industries, break glass ceilings, and create legacies. ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Fuelled by an unwavering love for art, Baisakhi Ghosh bravely shifted gears from a teacher to delve into the world of floral artistry. Starting with modest arrangements, her designs blossomed into captivating masterpieces not only on flowers but mammoth structures as well. Year on year, her reputation soared leading to the establishment of Baisakhi Flowers Pvt. Ltd. (Baisakhi’s) over three decades ago. Her boundless creativity shines as she weaves enchanting floral designs into her vivacious structures and sets, transforming spaces into mesmerizing wonderlands. Her achievements include winning the Wedding Excellence Awards 2022, the Leading Emerging Indian Company of the Year Award 2018, Indian Glory Awards 2022 (for Woman Entrepreneur), the Outstanding Achievement Award for Business Excellence 2018, the Ananya Kriti Sanman 2017, the All India Achievers Awards - India’s Emerging Company Award for Excellence in Flowers Decorations, SHE Awards, and the Best Floral Designer and the Best Set Designer award of the year at EEMA 2018, among many others.
Priyadarshinee Guha is an alumna of Loreto House, La Martiniere for Girls, and Presidency College, Calcutta, has a master's in modern history , and is a gold medallist from Calcutta University. Passionate about teaching, she chose to make this her life force. Guha has been teaching History and English for the last 28 years in reputed schools of Calcutta, namely Modern High School for Girls and The Heritage School. As a teacher of History, she has conducted several workshops for students and for training of teachers in using novel and creative approaches in the classroom. A trained Rabindra Sangeet singer, she has worked for several years in a reputed Bengali theatre group in Calcutta. Theatre was carried into the classroom which led her to mount several award-winning productions under her direction. She has also directed water ballets set to Tagorean themes. She has been the master of ceremonies for events and a regular at the Kolkata Literary Meet since its inception. Presently the Associate Vice President at the Kolkata Centre for Creativity she is carrying on her mission of marrying the arts with education.
