As part of AMI Arts Festival 2025, KCC presents Baat Niklegi toh Phir, an immersive audio-visual narrative on the life and music of Jagjit Singh, curated and presented by acclaimed author and editor Sathya Saran. 

Through a tapestry of stories, video clips, and iconic ghazals, this session revisits key milestones of the maestro’s journey — his musical genius, personal struggles, and enduring legacy. Based on her celebrated biography of the same name, Sathya Saran brings rare insights into Jagjit Singh’s life, drawing from interviews, research, and her own intimate exploration of his world. 

Join us for a heartfelt tribute to an artist who redefined the ghazal, blending classical depth with contemporary sensitivity to create music that touched generations.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER 

Sathya Saran is one of India’s most respected editors and authors, best known for her 12-year tenure as editor of Femina. A prolific cultural chronicler, she has authored acclaimed biographies including Ten Years with Guru Dutt: Abrar Alvi’s Journey, Sun Mere Bandhu Re: The Musical World of S.D. Burman, Baat Niklegi toh Phir: The Life & Music of Jagjit Singh, and Hariprasad Chaurasia: Breath of Gold. 

Currently Consulting Editor at Penguin Random House and columnist with The New Indian Express and Hindu BusinessLine, Sathya also teaches at NIFT and contributes to international publications like Ms Magazine (USA).
