Anuranan, a classical Kathak recital by Sudip Chakraborty, showcases the treasures of the Lucknow Gharana, with select elements from the Jaipur Gharana. This performance emphasizes rhythmic mastery, intricate footwork, Khandani Bandishes, and Abhinaya, while featuring an array of technical compositions on traditional talas, each highlighting unique rhythmic patterns and aesthetic beauty of the classical form.
About the Artiste:
Sudip Chakraborty is an acclaimed kathak dancer, theatre artist, writer, storyteller and TEDx speaker based in New Delhi, India. He has been a Kathak performer for more than the last two decades of his life. He also had undergone strict Bharatanatyam training as a child in Kolkata, and was later trained in various movement vocabulary. His initial training in Kathak commenced under Shri Pranab Sanyal Ji and Shri Sandip Mallick in Kolkata for 17 years, alongside working in local group theatres in the city. Later, he made his journey to Delhi and has been under the guidance of Guru Pandit Jai Kishan Maharaj Ji. Sudip has been trained in Pakhawaj under Pt. Ravi Shankar Upadhayye Ji. In 2017 Sudip founded ‘The Nirvana Arts Foundation’ in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi. His works Echoes of Narciss-Us, OUT DAMNED SPOT!, UNPRECEDENTED, Besotted, and Sharira, are critically acclaimed.
