KCC presents लैहरिया री रुत - Seema Mishra Musical, a grand folk music and dance presentation celebrating the living traditions and artistic heritage of Rajasthan. Led by renowned vocalist Seema Mishra, the production brings together a 16-member troupe to present the vibrant musical and performance traditions of the desert state. 

Through celebrated folk forms including Ghoomar, Kalbeliya, Chirmi, Panihari, Krishna Raas, Tera Taali, Gorband, and Aur Rang De, the performance explores Rajasthan’s diverse cultural expressions through live music, traditional choreography, costumes, and stage presentation. Each form reflects the region’s landscapes, stories, and collective memory, carrying forward traditions that continue to evolve across generations. 

Designed for audiences interested in folk traditions, dance, and India’s cultural heritage, the evening offers a contemporary presentation of Rajasthan’s intangible artistic practices while preserving the depth and spirit of its traditional forms. 

This programme is hosted as part of KCC Ramjhol 4.0: Desert Meets Delta. 

About the Artist 

Seema Mishra, popularly known as the “Lata of Rajasthan” and honoured as the “Maru Kokila” (desert nightingale), is one of the most recognised voices in contemporary Rajasthani folk music. Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in preserving and presenting the richness of Hindi and Rajasthani folk traditions through her distinctive vocal style. 

Her rendition of the folk song “Ghoomar” brought her widespread recognition, establishing her as a prominent figure in the revival and popularisation of Rajasthan’s musical heritage. With numerous acclaimed recordings, performances, and honours to her name, Seema Mishra has contributed significantly to bringing regional folk music to audiences across India and beyond.
