As part of AMI Arts Festival 2025, Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents লাবণ্যরেখা – Alpona Workshop with Sudhiranjan Mukherjee, a two-day hands-on exploration of Bengal’s cherished floor-art tradition.
Participants will learn to draw foundational motifs, prepare surfaces, and apply natural pigments, while also experimenting with contemporary layouts and creative variations. No prior experience is required, and all materials will be provided. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have created their own take-home piece, celebrating both heritage and personal expression.
This workshop is designed for families, students, craft lovers, and anyone curious about the living practice of Alpona.
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Sudhiranjan Mukherjee is a practitioner and teacher of traditional Bengali floor art, known for his community-based projects and facilitation of Alpona as both cultural heritage and contemporary creative practice.
