Theatre with Shadow

'Theatre with Shadow’ organised by KCC and facilitated by Jhalapala was a three day workshop for  children on stage acting and shadow puppetry. It comprised several activities including developing stories and preparing appropriate sets & props, helping them gain an in depth understanding of the art. With 14 young participants, the outcome of the workshop was a vibrant and immensely joyful production showcased at KCC. The workshop facilitated bonding among the participating children, and stoked their imagination. The workshop ended with the participants receiving certificates from the facilitators themselves.

Name of the Participating Artists - Santanil Gangully

Bio - "Santanil Gangully has been JHALAPALA’s director & played his role for the same with utmost care & sincerity.Being the director of JHALAPALA for twenty two years Santanil Ganguly directed 26 plays only in Jhalapala. Attended Augenblick Mal! 2015, a Theatre Festival for Children and Young Adults in Berlin, Germany as a delegate from India on behalf Goethe Institute, Kolkata, India.
He is the grantee of India Foundation For Arts for two consecutive years. He was Executive Committee Member of Assitej India for 2019-21. Sri Gangully is not only a director but shows his interest in story telling and script writing for both theatre (like ‘Tuntunite Tuntunalo’,’ Abyartha Lakhyoved’, ‘Gachh Amar Bondhu’, ‘Tager galpo’ `Littu’etc.) and short films (like ‘Living Tall’, ‘Touch’, ‘Ali-Jaan’ etc.) His articles have been published in different eminent magazines of Kolkata & suburb, such as Pryaag, Arabdha, Sobuj Patra, Sishu Mon, Natya Patra’ Rasatol etc. As story teller he has always grabbed attention from home to Bookaroo. Santanil Ganguly is an extra ordinary and vicious reader of Bengali literature. The stories get another dimension by the way he presents it.
