Bukjhim Ek Bhalobasha is a tragic love story set against the backdrop of rural Bangladesh during the decaying years of the Mughal Empire. This poignant tale of Mansur Boyati and Chand Sultana evokes the spirit of medieval Sufi romances, reminiscent of legendary love stories such as Heer-Ranjha and Soni-Mahewal. Written by Syed Shamsul Haque, the narrative is interwoven with music, drawing inspiration from the traditional genre of Premakhyan.

The production by Aneek Kolkata seeks to honour Syed Shamsul Haque's exquisite language while blending traditional Boyati music elements with contemporary sounds, creating a unique theatrical experience. The music, directed by Subhadeep Guha, incorporates both traditional Boyati music and modern instruments like the banjo and guitar.
