What does music look like? RaagRang explores this question in the context of North Indian classical music. In a great concert, the audience initially focuses on the musician who is playing or singing the raga. However, as the raga unfolds, the binaries disappear- the musician becomes the raga and the raga the artist. Finally, only the music remains. 

As a visual artist and computer graphics professional, Dipankar Goswamy attempts to semantically express this musical process. 
Dipankar's project features a series of traditional paintings, meticulously crafted to highlight the intimate connection between the musician and their music. These artworks, adorned with vibrant colors and calligraphic notations, enable the audience to absorb the true essence of the raga and its symbiotic relationship with the artist.

About Dipankar Goswamy: 
Dipankar Goswamy is a distinguished computer visual effects artist based in Hollywood, California, with over two and a half decades of experience in creating award-winning computer animation and visual effects for renowned films. Notably, he was the team lead in the Academy Award-winning film ‘Spiderman into the Spiderverse’ in 2019. 

With a graduate degree in Visual Communication from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Dipankar seamlessly blends technology and the arts. His serious passion for Indian classical music has culminated in the decade-long labour of love, "Raag Rang."
