Thread and Yarn

Beginner’s Course on Crochet

Date: 6 to 27 April (Saturdays)
Time: 11 am – 2 pm
Venue: KCC

Born from the French word ‘croche’ meaning hook, Crocheting is defined as ‘needlework’ consisting of the interlocking of looped stitches formed with a single thread and a hooked needle. The art form has evolved across civilizations and centuries as a means of creating items like hats, socks, and blankets. During World War II, American women crocheted to provide soldiers with sweaters, caps, and scarves. Back home, crocheting helped save money by creating basic household items.
In this workshop, you’ll explore various crochet stitches and techniques, with a focus on creating jewelry. Emphasis will be on the half-long technique, adding unique textures to designs.

🔹History of crochet and how this timeless craft has evolved over the years.
🔹Learn how to read crochet patterns and charts.
🔹Tips and tricks for choosing the right yarn, hook size, and other materials
🔹The full long technique of crocheting and using it to create intricate designs.
