2023 presents one of the biggest art collaborations between Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC), a major multidisciplinary arts institution, and the Behala Art Fest (BAF), one of the most significant art festivals of the city. 13 artists— Debasis Barui, Jogen Chowdhury, Pratap Chandra Chakraborty, Prasenjit Sengupta, Rathin Kanji, Robin Roy, Samindranath Majumder, Sanatan Dinda, Subrata Gangopadhyay, Suhas Roy, Shuvaprasanna, Sunil Das, and Debraj Goswami — who have been a part of both KCC and BAF, have come together at KCC to explore this street art x institution dichotomy and to challenge the same in an exhibition: ‘13 Summers ‘23’. While the KCC team has been a regular visitor at BAF, the BAF team and founder have also been a part of KCC's programs like the AMI Arts Festival, thus sowing the seeds which have sprouted thus. This one-of-a-kind exhibition is expected to challenge the way in which we view collaborations at art institutions and inspire more such projects in the future.
