Mere Apne

A spoken-word performance by actor-author Divya Dutta

Venue: KCC Amphitheatre

Date: 11 Sep, 2026

Kolkata Centre for Creativity presents Mere Apne, an intimate spoken-word performance by acclaimed actor and author Divya Dutta, drawing from her books Me and Ma and The Stars in My Sky. The performance brings together personal stories and reflections on the people who have shaped Dutta's life and journey. From her mother and family to friends, mentors and unexpected influences, the stories explore the relationships that leave a lasting mark on who we become. Me and Ma is a deeply personal account of Dutta's relationship with her mother, while The Stars in My Sky brings together portraits and memories of the people who have influenced her life. On stage, these written recollections take on another dimension through Dutta's voice, pauses and storytelling. Moving between the intimate and the universal, Mere Apne reflects on love, loss, friendship, gratitude and belonging. It also invites audiences to think about their own apne: the people who have guided, challenged, supported and shaped them along the way. At its heart, Mere Apne is a simple reflection on a shared truth, ‘Our stories are shaped by the people who become part of them.
