Celebrate the arrival of monsoon with Varsha Ritu — an enchanting evening of Indian classical music that captures the spirit of rain. Organised in collaboration with SAPTHAK, Bangalore — a cultural organisation with over 650 concerts across India — this marks their Kolkata debut. 

The concert features two celebrated acts: a soulful sarod recital by Ustad Shiraz Ali Khan of the Senia Gharana, grandson of the legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, accompanied by the eminent Pt. Arup Chattopadhyay on tabla; and a vocal performance by the promising Smt. Anagha Bhat from Bangalore, disciple of Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar and a former ITC SRA scholar, accompanied by Sri Hiranmay Mitra (harmonium) and Sri Bivash Sanghai (tabla).

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS 

Ustad Shiraz Ali Khan, grandson of legendary Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, belongs to Senia gharana and has been trained under his father, Ustad Dhyanesh Khan, Ustad Ashish Khan, Smt. Ameena Perera apart from the legend himself, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. He will be accompanied by Pt. Arup Chattopadhyay on Tabla. 

Smt. Anagha Bhat is a young and upcoming vocalist from Bangalore. Initially trained under Smt. Geetha Hegde and presently, she is the disciple of Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar and she was a former ITC SRA scholar. She will be accompanied by Sri Hiranmay Mitra and Sri Bivash Sanghai on Tabla.
