Join us at KCC for a hands-on block printing workshop that brings the magic of India’s textile traditions to life!  

Rooted in centuries-old traditions, this immersive workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the history, technique, and contemporary relevance of block printing, with a special emphasis on the evolving styles of Bengal. Led by an expert textile designer, participants will learn how to work with hand-carved wooden blocks, apply natural dyes, and print on fabric. Through guided exercises, they will explore the motifs, tools, and processes that define this intricate craft – from = preparing the fabric and aligning the blocks to experimenting with multi-colour prints.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR 

Sourav Saha, a textile designer from Berhampore, Murshidabad, works closely with Bengal’s handloom weavers—especially women’s groups—to create designs that blend tradition with contemporary appeal. With a Master’s in Visual Art (Textile Design) from Government Art College, Kolkata, he supports sustainable livelihoods by promoting handwoven textiles locally and globally, aiming to bring Bengal’s rich craft heritage to the forefront through innovation, collaboration, and community empowerment.
